AcupunctureWhat is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture works by assisting the body's innate intelligence to heal itself by promoting blood circulation. From a Chinese medicine perspective, blood circulation is important because it supplies nutrients (ying), defensive substances (wei), vitality substances (shengjing), vital air (qi) and fluids (jinye) to both the superficial and internal body tissues. Impairment in the arterial or venous blood flow of the body can lead to dysfunction and pain. Acupuncture restores blood, nutrients and vital air flow. It restores visceral (organ) and immune function, promotes homeostasis (balance) in the body, relieves pain and promotes tissue healing. |
